Travel.  Before you had to live gluten free, traveling & eating at new places was never a worry.  It was exciting to think about new culinary experiences.  Ahh…the thrill of the hunt to find the best place to eat by “interrogating” the locals or surfing the ‘net.  Now, fast forward to your GF life.  If you’re anything like me, what used to be enjoyable (traveling & eating out) can now be extremely frustrating & discouraging.  Personally, I still love to travel & dine in wonderful restaurants, however it’s a whole new world, isn’t it?  The links below are great for planning your next vacation or for next Friday night’s get together with friends or family.  I’ve found these links to be very helpful & wanted to share them with you too.  Do you have some additional gluten free travel resources you would like to share here?  I’d love to hear about them!

Roger & Lyndsay over at Celiactravel.com have restaurant cards for immediate download, just in case you’re heading out tonight. They’re free, but they would appreciate (& deserve, IMHO) a $5 donation.  They have 47 languages available!  Celiactravel.com also has travel tips, stories & recipes.  Thank you Roger & Lyndsay for all the work you put into this awesome site.

CeliacHandbook.com is another free, online source for traveling & living gluten free.

Gluten Free City Guide is a great resource for traveling GF’ers. Zach has done a great job putting this site together & has links to GF support groups all over the US & Canada.

GlutenFreeRegistry.com is specifically designed to put gluten free patrons & gluten free friendly restaurants together.  They have several information delivery options, including iphone app & print magazine.  Great site.

Glutenfreetravelguide.com is a site you’ll need when planning your next trip…They have reviews & tons of info to share.  You definitely will want to begin & end your next trip here.  The review you post could someone else plan their vacation too.  :-)   Here’s a quote from their site:

“Our mission is simple: To give you a vacation from worry. We want you to realize that, just because you or a loved one has Celiac Disease, you don’t have to give up travel. You don’t have to give up delicious foods. And you don’t have to make yourself crazy doing all your own research and legwork before taking a trip.  We want to be the premiere travel site where people in the Celiac community will go before planning any trip (and after they return) – whether it’s a quick weekend getaway, an overseas family vacation or monthly business trip.”

Bob & Ruth’s Gluten Free Dining & Travel Club is certainly another travel resource that can be of great help. They’ve been around since 1995 & truly understand what it means to travel gluten free.  They have a quarterly newsletter & organize gluten free adventures of all types & in all price ranges.

GlutenFreeGuideBook.com is another awesome source of information from Hilary Davidson, a travel journalist that lives with celiac disease.

Celiac.com has some informative gluten free travel articles, too.  You are probably already familiar with this site, as it has been around a long time.  A great source for all things gluten free.

Catherine Oddenino over at A Gluten Free Guide has a travel page with some helpful tips.  She travels a lot, so she speaks with experience & shares it with us.  Isn’t that awesome?  Thanks, Catherine!

TheCeliacScene – Guides for the Gluten Free is a site full of resources for gluten free travel as well.  They are based in Canada, but cover the scene in the US too.
