Hi Karyn,

My 4 kids had colic too. *sigh* Some were worse than others....also, had serious pooh bellies too. When they were really little (before I knew about the gluten problem), I did put 2 & 2 together about milk. We went dairy free for many years. We "supposedly" don't have food allergies in our family either. However, I'm confident that much of the blood sugar issues, blood pressure & gastrointestinal issues on my side of the family are directly related to food. We just don't manifest the symptoms with hives, asthma, etc. That would be just too easy. :-) If you're still researching health issues & if they're related to gluten, I would encourage you to go ahead & take the standard tests for celiac. Although, there are many that still have gluten intolerance symptoms after negative celiac test results, at least you'll know. It's just easier to do it before you take gluten out of your diet. (I didn't know anything about celiac disease or the tests until after I became my own "detective" & discovered that gluten was causing me to be so sick. After serious reflection & research, I decided I could not eat gluten again for a time to take some tests.) Based on what I've read & studied over the years, I believe migraines & IBS can be directly related to food intolerance. I wish you all the best in your quest! I know how frustrating it can be. :-)

Yes, I was colicky (and still hear all about it from my mom & aunts at every family gathering even though I am now 37) Now it looks like I also have gluten or wheat intolerance (still in the fact-finding stage). Hoping that a new diet will help with the migrains, IBS, bladder irratation & foggy brain.

Both of my kids were colicky too. I know - it was tough. They have cows milk sensitivity & my son has issues with eggs. Maybe we will determine that they are also intolerant of wheat or gluten.

Strange because food allergy does not run in my family - but IBS & migrains do. Perhaps undiagnosed food intolerances?
