Wow! After we tried Erewhon’s Organic Gluten Free Corn Flakes, we couldn’t wait to try their crispy brown rice cereal. We were not disappointed!
The brown rice cereal is rather filling, just like their corn flakes, which I appreciate. I had a very small serving (about 1/2 cup), since we were sampling, and I felt quite full. It’s crispy, but not as light as those white crispy rice cereals. While it’s been ages since I’ve eaten those krispies, but I do remember their light crunch.
Erewhon’s rice cereal has a great texture that stands up to the milk nicely…it reminded me of their corn flakes, because it didn’t get soggy…just a bit chewy, but in a good way. Great flavor! I ate mine unsweetened, but some of my kids used a touch of sugar.
I love this cereal has only 3 ingredients.
- Organic brown rice
- Organic brown rice syrup
- Sea salt
Short ingredient lists are always good when eating packaged foods. My rule of thumb (not hard & fast rule) is to stay in the 5 & under category…no more than 5 ingredients.
So, we have great taste, it holds up to milk, but those are really not the most important things. This is what really matters:
A couple of days later, we decided to try making rice crispy treats. We made the basic recipe with butter and marshmallows. This was a huge treat…not something we normally eat…although we all love them, except hubby. That means more for me!
My 17 yr old son did the “cookin” & they turned out fabulous!
There’s no taste-a-pic, but just imagine a richer version of the refined krispy stuff..it had tons of flavor, not just sweetness from the marshmallows. I could see a great pie crust made with this cereal too…
Bravo to Attune Foods…another great choice for those of us who must eat gluten free and prefer to eat food without LONG ingredient lists.
Oh, be sure to check out their recipe contest too! Great prizes!
A quick note: While Attune Foods did send me samples of their cereals, I only speak my mind…if I didn’t like this stuff, I’d say so.
